Go FO[U]RTH and Celebrate!

Hooray!!! It’s the Fourth of July!

I just read a sort of tongue-in-cheek (and somewhat inappropriate) list of supposedly über American things to do on July 4th. . . Since I didn’t appreciate the mocking tone all that much, I made my own personal July 4th to-do List, or, what I am calling

My “JULY FO[U]RTH!” List

– the 2012 Edition –

#1 – Sport the Old Glory colors however you can, or if all else fails, wear your best blue jeans!

#2 – Catch (figuratively) some fireworks! I just saw these beauties last night, and they were glorious!

#3- Sing our Anthem with your hand over your heart!

#4 – Attend a barbecue and, if you can manage it, have a slice of pie.

#5 – Buy something locally made.

#6 – Listen to F.U.N.’s new song “Some Nights“, followed by copious amounts of other patriotic music.

Then listen to “Some Nights” again.

#7 – Find a Parade and either watch or join!

#8 – Enjoy a themed beverage (If you’re over 21, that is…).

#9 – Get outside and Appreciate the sunshine!

0r if it’s not sunny for some reason, I will be sure to check the google doodle and do patriotic internet things (Any recommendations?)!

#10 – Enjoy a late-night showing of Captain America (aka my husband) on DVD to finish off the evening!

Well, folks, that is my plan. Did I miss anything?

Dabbling in decoratives is an ongoing obsession. I love having a go at This, That and the Other. . . tackling projects that tickle my fancy, hoarding costumes (for the "Someday" that I own a dress-up tea-house for grown-ups) and hosting themed parties whenever I am not immersed in teaching French and Writing to high school students. In the interest of full transparency, there's something serious you should know: I overuse the ellipsis . . . frequently. Embarassingly enough, it seems to be the punctuation that best captures my stream of thought as it flits off of one subject and towards the next!
